Carriages and Single Buggies OLD STYUC KRYPTOK A ROUSING MEETIUG PLANS DIQQEH AMD BETTER THINGS FOR HIGH POINT The citizens mass meeting held at the Auditorium last night was a reat sucess. A large number of enthusiastic citizens from every section of the city were present and were deeply interested in the proceedings of the meeting. Mayor Tate stated the object of the meeting and also outlined the work to be done by an indus trial club, such as it was hoped could be organized here. Col. Roberson, Mr. Matt lledgecock, Mr. Cottam. Mir. Wheeler, Mr. Cox, Mr. Parker, Col. Milton, Dr Hurrus and other gentlemen made rousing talks long the line of united effort on the part of all classes of High Point's citizen ship in working for the common inteiest oi building up "'Kn Point. The plan outlined by Mayor Tati- as to membership, etc., was somewhat as follows: That the club membership composed of every white citizen of the town, whether business man, profes sional man, laboring man, or any other class of honest citizens, and that the dues be held down to a very small sum. probably not more than Si.oo per year, and that the place for holding the mouthy meetings or other meet ings of the organiation be at the Manufacturers' Club Rooms, which the club would cheerfully allow without charge, and that the organization be divided up into several departments, each in charge of a competent head ; so that the general work of attract ing new industries to High Point and bringing outside capital into our midst, as will a beautifying the cilv :i-i'l making it more at tractive ;u cerv way, might be i irriiil on in an orderly, bllsi-uc-s-likc v.iv. ;unl with an organ ized eltorl on tne part ol every citizen of the town interested in the upbuilding of High Point, gnat result in this way might be accomplished. Another ob ect of this organization is to get every citizen of High Point inter ested in doing something for the town and m talking its advant ages to every person whether a High Pointer or not. In this way a great many things can be ac contpished without the cost of very much time or means. The Mayor was instructed to appoint a committee of twenty citizens, five from each of the four wards, to meet at an early date and to frame an organization and call another mass meeting of all the citizens of the town to be held in the Manufacturers' Club rooms just as soon as practicable. About the best name suggested n r this organiation is The High Point Industrial Club, and this will probably be the name adopt ed. The names of the committee of twenty will be published within a day or two, and it is hoped that every citizen will become deeply interested in this movement and i. i i . , ncip to mane tne membership reach 500 by the time the club is well organized and in working shape. son, of Charlotte, referee in bank ruptcy.
